Katy Beltran is a Latinx artist currently living in Atlanta, GA. Her work is a part of the city of Atlanta’s permanent art collection with international showcases around US, South America and Europe. She is one of the MINT Leap Year Artist 2024 awardees and one of the current Goat Farm Arts Center Artist at the Hapeville Studios.

Beltran completed her Bachelor of Arts education in photography as a young single mother in Colombia, and later graduated from the Master of Fine Art/Photography program at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta. In addition to her photography Beltran also has nonprofit management and social leadership experience with five years of fieldwork, starting in 2015 with the foundation of Museo Nueva Memoria (The New Memory Museum) in Colombia, a non-profit that uses art and photography to honor the life narratives of inhabitants of at-risk communities. She also works as a creative for multiple organizations and institutions such as Emory University, Black Voters Matter, SISTERLOVE, INC, and others working to eradicate the impacts of discrimination agains black and brown communities, including those affected by the HIV epidemic, and to advocate for justice for women and the LGBTQ+ community. Her longing to find a personal language has been nurtured by a variety of different expressive mediums, and her desire is to act to defend women’s rights and people’s bodily autonomy. Through her work, she deals with the personal human dramas of life focusing on the feminine body and the soul.
